    A small spot named Lyla is coming to Uptown in the space formerly occupied by Primo’s MX Kitchen and Lounge. This Mediterranean-focused spot plans to open in August by channeling the vibes of Santorini, Mallorca, or St. Barths.

    Primo's MX Kitchen, at 3309 McKinney Ave., closed earlier this year. In its various iterations (originally as just Primo's), the space has been a fixture in Uptown for more than 30 years, full of beautiful people watching other beautiful people eat queso and sip margaritas.

    Mediterranean restaurant lands legendary patio spot

    In major patio news, there's a new restaurant set to take over the former Primo's space on Dallas' McKinney Avenue. Called Lyla, it's a Mediterranean restaurant from Dallas-based hospitality entrepreneurs Veeral Rathod and Obi Ibeto of GAP Concepts and concept partner Reham Choudhury.

    Lyla opened in Uptown Dallas in a 3,000-square-foot space with a dining room, patio, and private dining room. The Mediterranean-inspired concept comes from three co-owners—Veeral Rathod, Obi Ibeto, and Reham Choudhury—who wanted to “transport” guests to Italy, Greece, and France.
